LEADERSHIP SUCCESS PATTERNS

By Rod Alan Richardson

Could you imagine expecting to compete in an Olympic swimming event if you had never been in a swimming pool before? I know this sounds ludicrous; but, how many times do we approach the world this way?

“Jump in the deep end and sink or swim,” says the old axiom. If we really did this, everyone would drown!

Every activity in life has a success pattern. The harder we fight the established pattern for succeeding, the longer it takes to actually achieve the goal.

Before you approach any business; any activity; any investment; or any job, follow this process to improve your chances of success:
  1. Learn About It. In a business context, this means to research and study. How many times have we heard the phrase, “learn by doing?” How long does it take you to figure out how to play that new board game verses reading the directions and watching a skilled player play?

  2. Do the Action. Once you have a context for you mind, then begin practicing and performing the function or task.

  3. Know What’s in Your Garage. You have many resources that are available to you already. Take an accounting of resources you have available to you. If you think hard enough, and are creative in your thinking, you will discover that you have many of the components you need to succeed.
